ISTQB Intermediate Certificate Course Complete

July 11, 2009

I finished the e-testing course this past Friday in Manchester (at the MWB Business Exchange). The course was lead by Don Mills. He’s a great teacher. The course was really informative and, being honest, rather quite difficult!

The course was undertaken by 7 candidates including myself. (Arathi, Sahar, Jo, Nicci, Jan and Habib) *

* If you were on the course with me, and you would like me to hyperlink to your website (or even remove your name), drop me a line via a comment or email. Apologies if I have spelled your name wrong, I didn’t get a chance to see many of your name cards.

Of the course, the chances of anyone reading this is rather remote.

ISTQB Intermediate Certificate In Software Testing Training Booked!

May 1, 2009

I know, I know. Long time, no post. Life sometimes just gets in the way. To fill you in, I’m still working in Bromsgrove and just generally getting on with life.

Since the last post, the structure for the Software Testing qualification has changed. A candidate can no longer go from the Foundation level (which I gained in 2005) to the Practitioner level. As of 2008 (I think) the levels have been divided into three. The Foundation stays as it is. The Practitioner level has been divided into two specialisations (ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management and ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Analysis).

To bridge the potential knowledge gap between the Foundation and Practitioner levels, the Intermediate level has been introduced. This is a pre-requisite for advancement to the Practitioner level.

My course is booked for July 7 – July 10, 2009 in Manchester with e-testing.

Book: The Testing Practitioner

January 11, 2006

After I completed my Foundation level Certification, I thought it best to augment my knowledge of Software Testing by getting my hands on a copy of one of the leading text books in the discipline. The Textbook is The Testing Practitioner by Erik van Veenendaal.

The back of the textbook informs:

This book is a collection of works gathered from 25 authors with a wealth of experience in software testing. The compilation has been written and edited by Erik van Veenendaal

I ordered this from Amazon.co.uk back in October 2005, and I have just received my copy a week or so ago. It seems that it is a difficult book to get hold of, looking at the inside cover my copy is from the Third run dated July 2005. I haven’t reviewed it as I haven’t finished the book yet (I have only just finished reading the first chapter).

I don’t plan to rush through this textbook though, as I want to be sure that I’m fully prepared for the Practitioner exam, especially since this is a full written exam and not multiple choice like the Foundaton level.

ISEB Foundation Certificate In Software Testing

August 23, 2005

In July 2005 I undertook a training course in Manchester with Grove Consultants which would enable me to be obtain a professionally recognised certification.

The Foundation Certificate is the first step to becoming a Test Practitioner.

The three day course was run by Dorothy Graham and was really informative.

I’m really pleased that I passed the exam and I received my certificate earlier this month.

I think that I’ll need more industry experience before I go for the ISEB Practitioner level qualification.

Welcome

July 9, 2005

As you may have guessed, my name is Matt Fishwick and this is my testing blog. I am a software testing professional currently working in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

This blog is intended to occasionally chart my journey through testing, the high highs while most probably glossing over the low lows.

I hope you enjoy it.
